Providing help and support to former members of the UK Armed Forces (Veterans) across the Warwickshire & West Mercia Area.

Volunteer Peer Support Worker

A Volunteer Peer Support worker is himself or herself normally a veteran.

We will train you to understand the barriers and issues faced by your fellow veterans who arrested by the Police, are in Prison or being supervised by Probation in the Warwickshire & West Mercia area. The trainer will be assisted by a veteran to ensure that the “veteran’s voice” is at the heart of all of our delivery.

"The training was great and delivered at a nice pace"

The training will include:

  • Two days training that will provide you with the underpinning knowledge and skills of volunteering and peer support.
  • Understanding how the Criminal Justice System (CJS) and how it affects veterans who are also offenders.
  • Awareness of how military charities assist veterans and their families
  • Military Mental Health First Aid Awareness.

"I enjoyed the entire course - meeting and working with veterans and other people interested in helping our armed services”

Once trained you will be part of the Remember Veterans Project Team supporting Veterans to navigate the range of services that are available to them, helping them to access these services and working alongside CJS partners to enable veterans to access these opportunities.
